In the ever-changing media landscape, the way PR professionals and reporters work together is changing, too. On January 16, PRSA and The Press Club of Toledo will partner to provide a glimpse into the real worlds of both media and public relations. Moderated by Mark Luetke, President, FLS Group, our panel of media representatives and PR professionals will explore the challenges and triumphs they face on a day-to-day basis and share tips for how to work together more effectively.

Press Club of Toledo Holiday Mixer

Join the Press Club of Toledo on Thursday, December 4 for our Holiday Mixer! The event will be held at the Sports Bar at the Toledo Club from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Members and invited guests are welcome to the event. We will be offering light hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be available.

The event offers members the opportunity to celebrate the holiday season while establishing relationships and connecting with seasoned professionals.

FREE Juvenile Justice Forum: June 14

The Press Club of Toledo is a proud sponsor of “The ABC’s of Covering the Juvenile Justice System,” a free forum for journalists and students.

The event is hosted by the Children’s Law Center, Inc. at the University of Toledo on Friday, June 14 from 10-11:30 a.m.

The forum will help media professionals gather resources, tips and ideas to create compelling and comprehensive stories about youth involved juvenile justice system. A panel of professionals in the juvenile justice field will speak about trends in Ohio and across the country that can be turned into news stories.

Accepting nominations for the 2013 Touchstone Awards

Touchstone logoThe Press Club of Toledo is now accepting nominations for the 2013 Touchstone Awards, to be held on Oct. 3, 2013 at the Toledo Club.

To submit a nomination, please complete the Touchstone Nominations form, clearly marking which TOUCHSTONE Award applies to your nomination.

The deadline for nominations is 5 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013.

Press Club announces 2013 Touchstone speaker

jim_tankersleyThe Press Club of Toledo annually recognizes newsmakers and news breakers in the Northwest Ohio region through the prestigious Touchstone Awards.

This year’s ceremony will take place on October 3 at The Toledo Club. The Press Club is proud to announce our featured speaker will be Jim Tankersley, Economic Policy Correspondent for The Washington Post. He previously worked at The Blade, the Rocky Mountain News and The Oregonian.

Tankersley and a colleague at The Blade won the 2007 Touchstone Livingston Award for Young Journalists for their “Business as Usual” series of stories revealing the true roots of Ohio’s economic decline. He was also part of the “Coingate” team at the The Blade that was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Tankersley is an Oregon native and 2000 graduate of Stanford University.
