2018 Touchstones: Call for Nominations

The Press Club of Toledo is putting out the call to find the best in Journalism and Community service in the area.  Below you’ll find the nomination categories for the 2018 Touchstone Awards.

An independent panel of judges from the Press Club in St. Louis will be evaluating stories from newspaper, radio, TV and internet journalists, and of course you can also nominate someone to receive the Press Club’s community service awards: the Touchstone Contributor Award, Touchstone Lifetime Award, and the Golden Touchstone (Lifetime Journalism Achievement).

The 2018 Touchstone Awards Call for Entries is here (2018 Touchstone Awards Call for Nominations). It’s easy to enter and there’s no limit to the number of entries you can submit, but you must not delay! The deadline to enter this year’s Touchstones is Friday, August 31, 2018!

Our 20th annual Touchstone Awards Ceremony will be held on October 25 at the Toledo Club. Our committee is busy working out the details and finalizing a date with our guest speaker. We will have that information to you SOON! In the meantime, please look over your work published between June 30, 2017 and June 30, 2018 and submit your best!

We will look forward to celebrating your journalism contributions at our 20th annual Touchstone Awards!

Press Club Partners with Library for Open Book with Sean Spicer

We are thrilled to partner with the Toledo Lucas County Public Library on their “Open Book event with Sean Spicer!”  The event will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at 3 p.m. at the McMaster Center at the Main Library.

A limited number of tickets are available, so secure yours soon!

Mr. Spicer will take readers behind the scenes of his tenure as President Trump’s press secretary, shedding new light on the headline-grabbing controversies of the Trump administration’s first year.

Pressing Issues: Approaching The Media Effectively

What does it take to get your story covered by the news?

Whether you’re a nonprofit, a creative organization, an entrepreneur, an artist, an activist, or just someone with a story that needs to be told, knowing how— and when— to contact the media is crucial to communicating your message with the general public.

Learn the dos and don’ts of attracting the media’s attention during the Press Club of Toledo’s next Pressing Issues Discussion, “Approaching The Media Effectively: A Discussion for Nonprofits, Organizations, Artists, and Entrepreneurs.”

Ask questions and receive advice from a panel of media and marketing professionals who will help you learn how to get your story in the news.
